Simple random chat

Omegle shut down permanently on November 8, 2023. If you want a simple way to start a conversation with someone you do not already know, Stranger Talk offers browser-based, text-first Random Chat.
Start Random ChatOmegle's founder, Leif K-Brooks, closed the site on November 8, 2023, after roughly 14 years online. In his public farewell post he cited the mounting operational, legal and emotional toll of running an anonymous chat platform at scale, including lawsuits and years of scrutiny over how the service was misused by some visitors. As of this writing, omegle.com shows only a placeholder page and the original service has not relaunched.
There is no single service that officially “replaced” Omegle. After Omegle closed, different random-chat platforms developed their own approaches to text chat, video chat, matching, moderation and identity. The right choice depends on what you actually need.
If your priority is simple one-to-one text conversation with a new person, Stranger Talk is one option to consider. It focuses on Random Chat, lightweight identity, conversation tools and user safety controls.

The current experience uses a lightweight Stranger Talk identity rather than a conventional social-media account flow.
Leave a conversation when you want and use the available block or report controls when needed.
Stranger Talk also provides Private Chat, Area Chat, Travel Chat, groups and conversation-focused features.
Omegle and Stranger Talk are not the same product, and Stranger Talk should not be presented as an exact replacement. Stranger Talk is currently built around a lightweight identity, text-based Random Chat, Private Chat codes and additional community features. Product functionality can change, so the current website is the source of truth for available features.
The current core product does not show a paid subscription or checkout flow for Random Chat. That makes the basic experience accessible without a traditional paid plan. Pricing and feature availability can change over time, so users should rely on the current product experience rather than an old comparison.
Stranger Talk does not use a traditional email-and-password social signup as the main product entry point. It uses a lightweight Stranger Talk identity and session controls. This reduces initial friction, but it should not be interpreted as meaning that the service stores no account, session or moderation records.
No random-chat service can guarantee that every stranger is trustworthy. Look for clear reporting and blocking tools, and protect your own information. Never share passwords, OTPs, PINs, financial credentials, identity documents, exact addresses or live location with someone you just met online.
Stranger Talk's Safety Center explains practical steps for Random Chat, Private Chat, Area Chat, Travel Chat and community features.
There is no single best choice for everyone. Compare the type of chat offered, age rules, moderation, privacy controls, signup requirements and whether the service matches what you actually want to do. Stranger Talk is designed for people who want simple one-to-one random conversations.
Some random-chat services offer free core features. Stranger Talk's current Random Chat experience does not show a paid subscription or checkout flow, but future pricing or feature changes are always possible.
The Stranger Talk pages should be treated as the source of truth for the features currently available. This guide does not promise a video-chat feature. The core Random Chat experience described here is focused on online conversation.
Stranger Talk has a separate Area Chat feature that uses selected country, state and city information. It does not require exact browser GPS in the current flow. Do not share an exact address or live location with someone you meet online.
Look for clear age rules, useful moderation, easy reporting and blocking, understandable privacy information, a reliable leave or skip flow, and a product that honestly describes what it does. Avoid services that make unrealistic guarantees about anonymity or safety.
For spontaneous conversations, try Random Chat. For a restricted two-person invitation, use Private Chat. For location-based conversations, see Area Chat. If you are unsure how to stay safe, read the Safety Center.
