A letter from the founder

A train, a cup of chai, and a simple idea
Hi, I'm Amit.
Some of my best talks have been with people whose names I never knew.
Once, on a long train journey, I started talking with the person sitting next to me. It began with something small. Then we just kept talking, for hours. Work, home, life. When I got off the train, I felt lighter. We never shared numbers, but I still remember that talk.
Another time, I was sitting at a small tea shop. A stranger sat down on the same bench. Two cups of chai, a few easy words, and a normal evening became one I still remember.
Those moments taught me something simple. Sometimes it is easier to open up to someone who doesn't know you. Nobody judges you. There is no pressure. It's just two people talking.
“Open it, say hi, and just talk. That's the whole idea.”
But online, this felt hard. Most apps want your phone number, your photos and your followers before you can say even one word. So I built Stranger Talk the other way round. You open it, you say hi, and you start talking. No long sign-up. No judging.
A place where strangers meet must also be safe. I take this very seriously. Every report comes to me, and I make every privacy decision the way I would for my own family.
So whenever you feel like talking to someone new, you are welcome here. Pull up a chair. The chai is on me.
Thank you for being here,
Amit Kumar
