Terms & Conditions
These are the house rules for Stranger Talk. Short version: you must be 18+, be decent to people, and don't use the site to hurt, scam or trick anyone. The details are below.
1. About these Terms
Stranger Talk is an online chat and community service for adults, run by the Stranger Talk team ("we", "us"). These Terms cover the website and all its features. We keep improving the site, so features may change, get removed or be replaced.
2. Agreeing to them
By using Stranger Talk, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. Some features have their own extra rules, and those apply too.
3. You must be 18 or older
Stranger Talk is strictly for adults. You need to enter an age of 18 or more and confirm you're 18+. Don't use the site for someone under 18, and don't help a minor get around this rule.
4. Your Stranger Talk identity
There's no email-and-password signup. Instead, we give you an ST code and a simple account. A display name is optional; if you don't set one, you appear as "Stranger". Keeping your login details private is your job.
5. Your ST code
Your code looks like ST plus five digits. You may be able to change it in your account settings. Don't pick a code or name meant to pass yourself off as someone else. When you change your code, our server may update records linked to the old one.
6. Your PIN
You can set a 4-digit PIN to get back into your account. Keep it to yourself. We only store a hashed version of it. Too many wrong tries will lock PIN login for a while.
7. What we expect from you
- tell the truth about your age, and only use the site if you're 18+
- keep your ST code and PIN safe
- respect people and their boundaries
- use report and block properly, not as a weapon
- don't try to get around our technical, safety or moderation systems
- don't use the site for anything illegal or harmful
8. What the site is for
Use Stranger Talk for real conversations, community posts, making friends, chatting on your journey, having fun and anything else legal the site supports. You can disagree with people. Just keep it respectful, and never let it turn into harassment, threats or targeted abuse.
9. Things you must not do
Don't harass, threaten, stalk, scare, blackmail, exploit, deceive or keep targeting another user. Don't post or ask for passwords, OTPs, bank details, private documents, exact addresses or other sensitive information to harm someone.
10. Harassment and threats
No repeated unwanted messages, sexual harassment, humiliating content, threats of violence, blackmail or intimidation. If someone threatens you, leave the chat, save what you safely can, report and block them, and call emergency services or the police if you're in immediate danger.
11. Hate and abuse
Don't attack people for who they are, including their religion, caste, race, gender, sexuality, disability or any other personal trait. Slurs, dehumanising attacks and calls for violence are not allowed. We may remove content or limit access when someone breaks this rule.
12. Sexual exploitation
Never use Stranger Talk to exploit, pressure, groom or sexually abuse anyone. Any sexual content involving minors is strictly banned. Don't pressure anyone for sexual photos, sexual details or to meet up offline.
13. Child safety
Stranger Talk is 18+ only. Don't try to contact minors here, and don't help anyone get around the age rule. If you think a minor is on the site or in danger, report it using the safety tools and, where it makes sense, tell the authorities.
14. Scams and fraud
Don't pretend to be a bank, a government office or another person to get money or login details. No investment, romance, payment, crypto, ticket or giveaway scams. We're not responsible for money lost in deals between users, so never send money to someone you met here.
15. Spam and bots
Don't flood chats, polls, groups or community spaces with repeated promotions, fake engagement or abusive automation. Some actions are rate-limited, and we may restrict activity that looks abusive.
16. Impersonation
Don't pretend to be another user, a celebrity, a company, an official or an organisation. A display name or social link on someone's profile doesn't mean we've verified who they are.
17. Illegal activity and privacy
Don't use the site to plan or help with anything illegal, including doxxing, stalking, hacking into accounts, identity theft or leaking private information. Don't post someone else's personal details without a lawful reason and their consent where needed.
18. Random Chat
Random Chat looks for another available adult. It may use gender and who's online right now to choose a match. You can leave a chat or skip to someone new at any time. We can't promise a match will always be available or a good fit.
19. Private Chat
Private Chat makes a temporary room with a 6-digit code. The code works for 10 minutes and only two people can be in the room. Think of it as a closed room, not an encrypted vault.
20. Area Chat
Area Chat uses the country, state and city you pick. It doesn't need your exact GPS location. It's up to you to decide what location details are safe to share.
21. Travel Chat
Travel Chat lets you pick a train by number or name and tries to match you with people who picked the same train. Our train list may not include every service or the latest timings. Don't rely on Stranger Talk for live train status, tickets, safety instructions or emergencies.
22. Community
Community has questions, advice posts, replies, discussions and polls. Other users can see what you post there. Don't share private information or anything that breaks these Terms.
23. Groups
Groups can be public or private, and can have an owner, members, rules, discussions and invite codes. Being in the same group doesn't make someone trustworthy. Owners and members must follow these Terms and the group's own rules.
24. Polls
Poll creators choose how long a poll runs, anywhere from 1 hour to 7 days. Votes are tied to your ST code so everyone gets one vote per poll. Don't try to rig polls with fake accounts or bots.
25. Games
Stranger Talk has quick two-player games. We store game sessions and their state. Games are just for fun. They're not gambling and they don't promise any prize or result.
26. What you post
You're responsible for what you post. Only share content you have the right to share, and nothing that breaks someone's privacy, copyright or the law. We process what you post to run the feature and to keep the site safe.
27. Reporting
You can report people you chat with and some public content. We store reports with the details we need to look into them. Making false or spiteful reports breaks these Terms too, so don't use reports to get back at someone.
28. Blocking
You can block someone from a chat and manage your blocked list. Blocking helps a lot, but it can't promise that person will never come across you anywhere on the site again.
29. Moderation
We may review reports and related information, remove content, suspend accounts or take other safety steps when someone breaks these Terms or creates a real safety or security risk. We may use automated checks, rate limits and human review. We don't promise round-the-clock human moderation.
30. Suspensions and bans
We may temporarily limit or permanently ban an account for serious, repeated or harmful rule-breaking, and also for security, fraud-prevention or legal reasons. We don't promise a fixed suspension length unless the site shows one for that action.
31. Think we got it wrong?
If you believe we took action against you by mistake, email strangertalk.in@gmail.com with your ST code and what happened. We'll take another look.
32. Deleting your account
You can delete your account from My Profile → Account & Devices. It removes your profile and the records linked to it. Because it can't be undone, we ask you to confirm first. Backups and records we must keep by law may take longer to disappear.
33. Availability
We run Stranger Talk on an "as available" basis. Features may be down, slow, changed or shut down. Stranger Talk is not an emergency, medical, travel-control, financial or identity-verification service.
34. Changes to the site
Features, matching, limits, data and design can change. We can't promise any feature will be around forever.
35. Other services we use
Stranger Talk runs on outside hosting and infrastructure, and we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. If we add another service that receives your information, we'll update our Privacy Policy first.
36. Our brand and software
The Stranger Talk name, brand, design, software and site content belong to the Stranger Talk team or are used with permission. These Terms don't give you ownership of any of it. Don't copy, scrape, reverse-engineer or redistribute the site unless the law allows it.
37. Your content
You keep whatever rights you already have in what you post. By posting it, you let us store, show, send and moderate it as needed to run the feature you used.
38. People can lie online
We don't check every user's identity, age, intentions or claims. Someone's profile, rating, location or story isn't verified fact. Our safety tips lower the risk, but they can't remove it completely.
39. Limits on our responsibility
As far as the law allows, Stranger Talk is provided "as is", and we're not liable for what other users say or do, for losses from deals between users, or for indirect losses that come from using or not being able to use the site. Nothing in these Terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be excluded.
40. If you break these Terms
If your misuse of Stranger Talk, or your breaking of these Terms, causes a legal claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs that come from it, to the extent the law allows.
41. Which law applies
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be handled by the courts that have jurisdiction under Indian law, unless the law where you live gives you a right to bring it somewhere else.
42. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when the site or the law changes. The "Last Updated" date at the top will change, and if it's a big change we'll let you know on the site.
