It can be, if you keep a few habits. On Stranger Talk you don't give us your phone number or email, so the other person never sees them. You can skip a chat, block someone or report them in one tap. The rest is common sense: keep your full name, address, college and money out of the conversation.

Yes. Tick the age confirmation box, tap a mode and you're in. You get a random ST code instead of a username. Make an account only if you want to keep friends and chats across devices.

Omegle shut down in November 2023, and a lot of people went looking for something similar. Stranger Talk is text-only, which keeps things calmer. There are also more ways in than one random button: Private, Area, Travel, Groups and fandom chats.

No. Right now it's text chat only. No camera, no mic, nothing to switch off before you start.

Yes. There's no subscription and no paywall on chatting today. If paid extras ever come, we'll say so clearly first.

Use Area Chat. You pick your area and get matched with people nearby. We don't show your exact GPS location to anyone.

Yes, that's what Travel Chat is for. Search your train by number or name, then talk to others on that route. It's handy on a long, boring journey.

They see your ST code, plus a display name if you set one. They don't see your phone number or email, because we never ask for them. Don't share those yourself either.

Passwords, OTPs, bank or UPI details, your home address, your exact live location and private photos. If someone pushes for any of these, end the chat and report them.

Start with a few random chats. When one goes well, send a friend request so you can keep talking. Groups and the Fandom Hub are good too, because you start with something in common.

Don't argue, just leave. Skip the chat, block the person, and report them if they broke the rules. Reports help us keep that person away from others too.

Stranger Talk is an online conversation service with Random Chat, Private Chat, Area Chat, Travel Chat, community spaces, groups, games and discovery tools.

The current product does not show a paid subscription or checkout flow. The core experience is available without a traditional paid signup. Pricing can change if the service introduces paid features in the future.

Yes. You must be at least 18 and confirm that during onboarding. The server also checks the 18+ requirement before relevant features are used.

No traditional email/username signup is used. Stranger Talk creates a lightweight identity with an ST Code and can use a four-digit PIN for returning access.

Your Stranger Talk Code is an identity code in the ST plus five-digit format, such as ST13456. It is used by the product to associate your profile, activity and safety actions.

The four-digit PIN is used for returning access. Stranger Talk stores a hash of the PIN rather than the PIN itself. Repeated failed attempts can temporarily lock verification.

Yes. The current account controls allow a custom ST plus five-digit code or generation of a new one when available. Existing application records are migrated to the new code.

Logging out clears the local account state and reloads the app. The server remains responsible for deciding whether a session is valid.

Stranger Talk creates or uses a waiting room and searches for an eligible available person. The current matching logic uses presence, age eligibility, blocked-user relationships and gender information when prioritising candidates.

Yes. In Random Chat, an empty composer action can move to the next user. You can also leave the conversation.

Yes. Chat Actions includes Report, Block and Leave Chat. Reports are recorded for moderation.

For Random, Area and Travel conversations, Stranger Talk can show a Friend Request action after you are connected with the other person.

Yes. The chat interface includes conversation tips and English/Hindi conversation starters.

Private Chat lets you create a restricted two-person room and invite another person with a six-digit code.

The current join logic accepts a waiting private room only when it was created within the previous 10 minutes.

A private room is limited to two members. Once the other person joins, the room becomes active and the waiting code is no longer accepted as an available invitation.

No such claim is supported by the current implementation. Private means access is restricted by the temporary code; it is not a promise of end-to-end encryption.

You choose a country, state and city and the service finds profiles using those selected values.

The current Area Chat flow does not request browser geolocation and stores country, state and city selections rather than GPS coordinates. You can still reveal your own exact location in text, so share carefully.

Yes. You can start the Area Chat flow again and select another location.

Travel Chat uses a selected train number and attempts to match users who selected the same train.

Yes. The interface searches the available train dataset by train number or train name and lets you select a suggestion.

No GPS is required by the current Travel Chat flow. Matching is based on the selected train.

No. It is a product dataset used for matching. Do not rely on Stranger Talk for live railway operations, ticketing or emergency information.

Community includes questions, advice-style posts, discussions, replies and polls. You can participate without your public display name being shown in the community presentation.

They are presented anonymously to other users, but the service stores a Stranger Talk Code with posts and replies. “Anonymous” therefore should not be read as “the service has no way to associate the post with your account.”

Groups are public or private communities with owners, members, rules, discussions and invitation codes.

The current poll creator supports 1 hour, 6 hours, 1 day, 3 days and 7 days. The server limits the active-until time to no more than seven days from creation.

The current database uses one vote record per poll and Stranger Talk Code. A later vote updates the selected option rather than creating another vote.

The product provides quick two-player mini games. Game sessions store state and the creator's Stranger Talk Code so the server can coordinate the session.

Top Chatters uses profile reputation and activity information to present ranked users. The product currently exposes some public profile information such as display name and rating.

The public interface does not document a single exact scoring formula. Activity tables track sessions and active days, while ranking endpoints combine product data. The internal formula should not be assumed from the UI alone.

Leave the conversation, block and report the user. If you face immediate physical danger, contact local emergency services or a trusted person. Stranger Talk is not an emergency service.

Do not send money or payment credentials to a stranger. Treat urgent financial requests, investments, giveaways and emergencies as possible scams.

Use Report and, when appropriate, Block. Give a clear reason so moderation can understand the issue.

Yes. My Profile → Account & Devices → Delete My Account starts a two-step confirmation process. The current deletion endpoint removes the profile and associated application records.

The current deletion flow removes the profile, messages, activity records, friendships, blocks, notifications, feedback, community contributions, poll votes, game sessions, anonymous sessions and other associated application records. Owned group records are also removed by the current flow.

The application performs database deletion, but infrastructure backups or records that must be retained by law can follow separate lifecycles.

Yes. The current database contains a messages table with room, user code, display name, message body and timestamps.

The current application code audited for this policy does not read or store IP addresses in the Stranger Talk database. Hosting or network infrastructure may have its own logs; those provider practices need to be covered separately.

Use the Contact page for general support, privacy questions, account-deletion help, safety matters and feedback. A dedicated legal/support email is not currently configured in the project.

No. Stranger Talk does not present every user identity as independently verified. Treat profiles, names, ages, social handles, ratings and claims made by strangers as unverified.

No. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or a trusted person. Online moderation should not be your emergency response plan.
