Omegle isn't working in India, but not because of an India ban. Omegle shut down everywhere on November 8, 2023. Its founder closed the service worldwide, so omegle.com no longer offers chat in any country.
What about "Omegle" sites and apps you still see?
Search "Omegle India" or "Omegle app download" and you'll find plenty of sites and apps using the Omegle name. These are not the original Omegle. They're separate services run by other people, and some of them are full of ads, bots or worse.
Before you use any of them, check three things:
- Who runs it? A real site has a contact page, terms and a privacy policy.
- What does it ask for? Be careful with anything that wants your phone number, contacts or payment just to chat.
- Can you block and report? If there's no way to get rid of someone rude, leave.
Was there ever an official Omegle app?
Omegle was a website. If an "Omegle" APK or app asks you to download it today, it is not from the original Omegle, so think twice before installing it on your phone.
