Practise English by actually using it

Grammar books only take you so far. The fastest way to get comfortable with English is to use it in real conversations, with real people, about everyday things. Stranger Talk gives you exactly that: free, anonymous text chats with people who are online right now.

Nobody knows who you are, so there's no pressure. Make a mistake, rephrase it and keep going. That's how fluency is built.

Tips that make practice work

Easy topics for beginners

Your day, food you like, a film or series you watched, your city, your favourite cricketer or singer, weekend plans, and what you want to learn this year. Simple topics are best because you already know what to say; you only need to say it in English.

Honest note

Stranger Talk is text chat, not voice or video, so it helps most with reading, writing and thinking in English quickly. It isn't a course and there are no teachers, just other people who want to talk. For pronunciation you'll still want to speak out loud, for example by reading your chat replies aloud.

Stay safe

Keep chats about the language and everyday topics. Never share your phone number, address, OTPs, bank details or private photos. If anyone makes you uncomfortable, leave, block and report them.
